Mercy Ministry

“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

Matthew 25:40

Jesus is the Good Life. At The Chapel we are seeking to encounter, enjoy, and embody Jesus together. And in particular, we want to embody His sacrificial love through deep generosity for the city by serving the needy and bringing mercy and justice for all people from womb to tomb.

At The Chapel, we want to use our time, talent, and treasures to fulfill the Great Command and the Great Commission. This means as God’s people, we are called to bring the good news of the Gospel through both proclamation and demonstration. One way the Church is called to live out these commands is by serving and blessing those who are easily overlooked: the orphan, the poor, the vulnerable, and the powerless.

Jesus regularly spent time with outcasts, lepers, sinners, and the poor. He did this because it was integral to his mission to seek and to save the lost, and because loving your neighbor is what it looks like to live as a citizen of the Kingdom of Heaven. Additionally, God continually denounces religious activity that does not give attention to the poor or marginalized in Scripture (Isaiah 58:1-3, 5-7, James 1:27, 1 John 3:16-18).

We want to encounter, enjoy, and embody Jesus together, and we’re excited to do this by partnering with local ministries and non-profits who are already doing a great job blessing Greater Lafayette.
